Privacy Policy

Simply Sefer (operated by DovIndustries, support@dovindustries.com) is a community marketplace for buying and selling seforim and Judaica. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it, and the controls you have.

Data we collect

Account information. When you sign up we collect your email address and a display name. If you continue with email, we send a time-limited six-digit sign-in code to that address. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from that provider.

Listing content. When you create a listing we collect the title, description, photos, price, condition, categories, and the location you provide (postal code, a location label, and approximate coordinates used for distance-based sorting). Listings, including photos, seller display name, and location label, are public.

Messages and activity. We store messages you exchange with other users about listings, bids you place in auctions, ratings and reviews you leave, and items or sellers you choose to watch.

Usage data. We count listing views and conversations to rank popular listings. Search terms and seller-profile views are logged for trending features using a daily-rotating pseudonym rather than your account id. We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights (aggregate traffic and performance) and Microsoft Clarity (session interaction analytics such as clicks and scrolling) to understand and improve the product. Our hosting infrastructure keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and debugging.

AI listing assistance.If you use the photo-based listing assistant, the photos you submit are sent to Google's Gemini API to suggest listing details (title, category, condition, and similar fields). Photos are sent for analysis only; the suggestions are returned to you to review before publishing.

How we use data

We use this data to operate the marketplace: authenticate you, show listings sorted by relevance and distance, deliver messages between buyers and sellers, run auctions, send transactional email (such as sign-in codes, welcome emails, message notifications, and auction updates via Resend), surface trending searches and popular listings, prevent spam and abuse, and improve performance and usability. We do not sell personal information. We do not currently show third-party advertising or use your data for it; if that changes, we will update this policy first.

AI assistant connectors (tool inputs and outputs)

Simply Sefer offers a read-only connector that AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can use to search public listings. When an assistant calls the connector on your behalf:

• Inputs we receive: the search text, optional category and listing-type filters, or a numeric listing id. These requests are processed to answer the query and may appear in standard server logs; they are not linked to a Simply Sefer account and the connector does not use cookies or require sign-in.
• Outputs we return: only listing data that is already public on simplysefer.com — listing title, price or auction status, condition, category, location label, seller display name, description, photo URL, and a link to the listing. The connector cannot create, edit, or delete listings, send messages, or access private account data.

Your conversation with the AI assistant itself is handled by that assistant's provider (for example OpenAI or Anthropic) under its own privacy policy.

Who receives data

We share data only with the service providers that run Simply Sefer: Supabase (authentication, database, and photo storage), Vercel (hosting and analytics), Resend (transactional email), Google and Microsoft (sign-in, if you choose them), Google Gemini (AI listing assistance, if you use it), and Microsoft Clarity (interaction analytics). Each provider processes data only to provide its service. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect the safety and integrity of the service.

Retention

Account data is kept while your account is active. Listings remain until you delete them; you can edit or delete your listings at any time. Messages are retained so both participants keep their conversation history. Pseudonymized search and view logs are used for short-term trending and aggregate statistics. Server and analytics logs are retained on our providers' standard schedules. When you delete your account (see below), we delete or de-identify your personal data except where we must retain it for legal or security reasons.

Your controls

• Edit or delete your listings and photos at any time.
• Change your display name in account settings.
• Request deletion of your account and personal data, or a copy of your data, by emailing support@dovindustries.com. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
• Avoid including sensitive personal information in public listing photos, descriptions, and messages.
